What a thrill to rummage through boxes with transparent drawings, taped together, accompanied by notes typed on an Olivetti typewriter. Once we found a drawing signed… in 1978, complete with the initials of who had “recopied it in ink”.
Another memorable episode: a company had to reproduce a machine, but half of the drawings no longer existed, except in the mind of an old worker. We spent hours climbing up and down the machine, taking photos and notes to reconstruct it in 3D.
And he, with the calm of someone who had it all in his head, sketched with chalk on the workshop floor, explaining the details of the parts and where to apply the modifications.
